In Case You Haven’t Noticed…

In case nobody noticed… This blog is no longer really used.

It kind of went downhill.  Sad day, I know.

Good news is, this is mainly because I have started a new blog.  Elsewhere.  (:  So, if you still for some strange reason enjoy reading my controversial, sometimes contradictory, but always unnecessarily verbose blog posts, here’s your chance to keep following (:

(although, I must say, I’ve gotten better about the absurd length thing.)

Belief and Understanding

I was reading a post on the internet somewhere today and someone said something in a comment that got me thinking.  He (or she, I couldn’t tell) said that some Christians insist that belief should come before understanding, or even that belief should be encouraged without understanding.  He (or she) then said that this is a backwards philosophy.  Do Christians really say that?

Days of Genesis, Pt. 1

I think it is important that anyone who believes in a literal, as-is-for-all-ages interpretation of Genesis should remember that their beliefs on what the Bible is saying are, just like mine, are an interpretation.  If it is a well-founded interpretation, it is probably also a truth, but at the root, all of our beliefs about the Bible begin at the interpretative level.  The truth in the Bible is an external truth that must be found through interpretation — unfortunately we as modern-day Americans have no choice but to look at the Bible through the lens of another culture and language.

Our goal should be to get as close to the truth as we can, and I believe that God has left other clues out there in this universe Read the rest of this page »
